Hillcrest

Two hours south of Los Angeles, proudly bordering the country of Mexico, is where you’ll find one of our country’s most aesthically pleasing cities: San Diego. For those of you that have never been, San Diego is not only known as the Finest City in the US, but it is also a gem when it comes to trendsetters and fashionistas.

When most people think about fashion in San Diego, they probably picture college students in brands like Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister, walking down the strip at Pacific Beach and Mission Beach. They might even picture expensive cars and SUV’s in the Gaslamp Districts, envisioning guys and gals hitting the clubs in brands like True Religion and Christian Audigier. This isn’t always the case though. A large number of the San Diego population are transplants, which is why you’ll see a lot of international trends and styles, and maybe even some couture fashion in some areas.

Every major city in the country has its ‘SoHo’ or ‘East Village’ areas, but when you ask a San Diego resident to give you their top three places to shop and see some open-minded and creative individuals, I promise Hillcrest will be one of the three. Hillcrest is pretty much a one-stop shop when it comes to fashion, with trendy popular stores like Urban Oufitters and American Apparel a block away from each other. Another favorite in the community is the store Buffalo Exchange. Hillcrest is also the home of Flashbacks, a happenin’ vintage store for the more creative individual. When in San Diego, Hillcrest is a must see location.
